Tamariu on vacation: Things to do.

Discover what do in Tamariu and its surroundings.

Tamariu is a town that originally was a settlement of fishermen in the area (mostly, from Palafrugell). It was not until the beginning of the 1900s that first houses were built, and in the 50s when the town embraced tourism.

One of the attractions of Tamariu is its Camí de Ronda, a walk that runs largely along the sea and that takes walkers through coves such as Cala Pedrosa, Far Sant Sebastià, Calella, el Golfet ... The path lasts for about 40 Kms, and was originally used by the Guardia Civil to prevent contraband after the Spanish Civil War.

The offer of beaches around Tamariu is unbeatable in quantity and, above all, in beauty: Aiguablava, Sa Tuna, Sa Riera, Pals, Llafranc, Calella de Palafrugell, Golfet, Cap de Planas, Tossa de Mar, Castell, Palamós ... Those beaches are spots not to be missed on vacation.

Tamariu celebrates its Fiesta Mayor (Major party) every August the 15th, with a rooster of activities that change from year to year. The proposal contains events that start at the beach and includes the dance of sardanas (popular dances) in the afternoon, children's entertainment and ballroom orchestra at night.

The agenda during the months of June, July, August and September is full of activities for all tastes:

Markets:

Mercat boig (Llafranc): A market that is organized in the main streets of Llafranc where you can find "everything at any price". Hence its name: Crazy market. It is usually held on the first Saturday of September.

Fira d'Indians (Begur): Event that is organized on the first weekend of September where the historic relationship between the town of Begur and Cuba is celebrated: Many villagers emigrated in the 1800s and after their return to Begur they would be called "Indianos" by their peers. Street stalls, habanera recitals and concerts complete this proposal. Begur is only 9 Kms away from Tamariu.
